Scheduling and payment is handled by the institution.<\/p>\n<p>Adult classes serve a broad range of still levels through various classes. A supportive atmosphere provides a safe, encouraging, and educationally sound environment for students to explore the creative process at their own pace.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">My classes to look for in the FIA schedule<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a title=\"FIA School Catalog Link\" href=\"https:\/\/flintarts.org\/learn\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><br \/>\nVisit the Flint Institute of Arts website for the current schedule.<\/a><br \/>\n<em>Please note that all classes are not available at all times.<\/em><br \/>\n___________<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beginning Pottery:<\/strong><br \/>\nA class for students with little or no clay experience. All basic techniques covered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wheel and More:<\/strong><br \/>\nA class for the beginning to intermediate student covering handbuilding basics, glazing basics, but concentrating on mastering the potters wheel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advanced Wheel:<\/strong><br \/>\nA class for students with throwing experience, focusing on refining specific techniques and making specific objects.\u00a0 I will sometimes specify these classes as \u201cPots with Lids\u201d or \u201cPouring Vessels\u201d. Oriented toward functional pottery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Glazing Techniques:<\/strong><br \/>\nA class for the student with some glazing experience. This class cover all methods of applying glaze, pouring, dipping, spraying, and moves on to stenciling, resists, multiple firings and specialty glazes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Glaze chemistry:<\/strong><br \/>\nFor the experienced potter. From raw materials to the basic chemistry of glass, we start testing on tiles, learn to convert to the unity formula, and make glazes from scratch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All Types of Firing:<\/strong><br \/>\nA class for all level students. Learn how all pieces get fired, from high fire gas, low fire oxidation, luster\u2019s and decals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alternative Firing:<\/strong><br \/>\nSome clay experience preferred.\u00a0 We will fire various clay bodies at different temperatures, use saggers, soluble salts, and other materials to achieve unique effects on non-functional forms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sculptural Clay: <\/strong><br \/>\nSome clay experience preferred.
